INTERNATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATION UNION (ITU) TELECOM WORLD 2012 HELD IN GENEVA, SWITZERLAND FROM 23-28 OCTOBER 2011

It is worthy to note that given the current uncertainties in the global economic outlook, hot topics that were debated by panelists and speakers included the benefits of broadband for stimulating economic growth and job creation and the impact of the latest financial repercussions on financing the industry. Speakers included Heads of State from various developing countries shared their views on how broadband can boost progress in achieving the MDGs and business models that can capitalize on growth in emerging markets. Other Plenary Sessions explored the evolution of online regulation, smart societies and latest trends in social media, given examples from the Arab spring.

 
 

Dr Baba J Adamu has always been pro-active in Democracy and promoting International Trade and Democracy throughout the world. He participated in the Canada Trade Mission to Africa with Canadian Minister Pettigrew which was held on November 15 - 26, 2002. Johannesburg, South Africa, Lagos, Nigeria, Dakar, Senegal following the G-8 commitment towards Africa. Dr. Baba Jibrin Adamu, a Nigerian -Canadian; and is the CEO of iNetworks Canada, in Toronto, Canada.

 
   

 

 

 

 

  

 

The Summit  offered opportunity to showcase investment opportunity in the Nigeria ICT sector; and foster collaboration. ITU is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technology. For over 145 years, ITU has coordinated the shared global use of the radio spectrum, promoted international cooperation in assigning satellite orbits, worked to improve communication infrastructure in the developing world, and established the worldwide standards that foster seamless interconnection of a vast range of communications systems.
